A hug from Naani (grandmother) can make everything feel warm and cozy. I live in Mumbai at a 2 hour flight distance away from my Naani who is in Gurugram, India. We do not have cold winters in Mumbai. My Naani knit a blanket for me any way. And I curl up with it any way.
Because warmth, is both an emotional and a physical need.
When I did curl up with it, the love, the care and the physical comfort all engulfed my senses. I felt a wave of gratitude. With that, came a realisation that I am blessed to have this experience. So many are at the opposite end of the experience.
My naani has told me so many stores about harsh winters where she lives. Where people shiver in the cold with limited resrouces.
We discussed how we can help and, "Blankets of Love" was born.
The idea is simple.
You donate money, and we will donate blankets to those in need.
Together, we can make harsh winters feel less harsh and someone will feel loved and taken care of.
